Trump wants to name an object on the Moon after himself

US President Donald Trump hopes that one of the objects on the Moon will be named after him. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Trump said during a discussion of lunar objects at the Space Center in Texas: “I hope that they will dedicate something to me and name it after me.”

The US President met with the commander of the Artemis II mission, American astronaut Reed Weissman. Trump recalled that one of the lunar craters was named Carol in honor of Weissman’s wife, who died of cancer.

According to the US President, the Moon will preserve the memory. “This is a very good option,” concluded Trump, adding that he himself would not be against such a naming.

During the events, the US President signed a decree on the establishment of a space academy in the country.

On August 27, Trump signed an executive order to rename Lake Ontario, on the northern border of the United States, to Lake America, amid a trade war with Canada. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded by saying that the name of this body of water predates the United States and Canada, and that the country would continue to use the old name.

Trump also said he intended to change the name of the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean. Previously, the US president had renamed the Gulf of Mexico to America. A highway and an airport near his estate in Florida were also renamed in Trump's honor. An attempt to add the current president's name to the facade of the Kennedy Center in Washington failed: six months after it was installed, it was removed by court order.
