Trump to meet Kim Jong-un again after seven years
Former US President Donald Trump has said he expects to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this year.

After a seven-year hiatus, Donald Trump has announced his intention to meet with Kim Jong-un again.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, the politician answered the question in the affirmative: "Yes, I will."
Trump stressed that he has a good relationship with the North Korean leader, saying: "We have a good relationship with Kim Jong-un. He has 57 very powerful nuclear weapons. This should not have been allowed, but he has these weapons. I know him very well. As long as we have a smart president, he will do well. If we have a stupid president, he will not do well."
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump plans to meet with Kim Jong-un this fall in order to resume negotiations on Pyongyang's nuclear program.
Trump and Kim Jong-un have previously met three times during the American leader's first term: once in 2018 and twice in 2019. At that time, denuclearization talks ended without an agreement due to the parties' failure to agree on the terms for dismantling the DPRK's nuclear infrastructure.
Earlier this week, Trump said he had accepted the North Korean leader's offer of talks, adding that "Kim Jong-un has always treated me with great respect."
