Trump Threatened to Seize Iranian Oil

US President Donald Trump has threatened to seize Iranian oil. He compared this situation to the US efforts aimed at taking control of one-fifth of Venezuela's vast oil reserves.

"Eventually we will leave Iran, unless we decide to stay and keep the oil for ourselves, as was the case in Venezuela," Trump told reporters.

This statement was made during his visit to Ireland. Trump arrived in this country on an informal visit to hold meetings and watch golf. He did not rule out that the war with Iran could end by the end of 2026, including potentially shortly after the midterm elections to be held in the US in November.

Trump says that once the war ends, gasoline prices will "drop dramatically." The situation in the Middle East has affected oil markets. Prices are expected to rise again following an attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline from Iraqi territory. Baghdad has launched an investigation into the attack and closed three checkpoints leading to Iran. Iraq fears that those who carried out the attack will flee to Iran. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack on the oil pipeline.
