Trump called those spreading reports about ammunition shortages in the US traitors

Amid reports of depleted weapon stockpiles in the US, President Donald Trump stated that the country has more than enough ammunition.

"Cowards and traitors are gleefully talking about a shortage of ammunition in the US. This is a lie. We have more ammunition than can actually be used. And now we are increasing stockpiles to unprecedented levels," Trump wrote.

Since July, US media, citing various sources, have been writing about an ammunition shortage in the US military due to hostilities in Iran.

In particular, a July report by The New York Times stated that one of the factors influencing Trump's decision to abandon plans to sharply escalate the military campaign against Iran was his advisers' concerns over the dwindling stockpiles of US Patriot interceptor missiles and other air defense systems in the Middle East.

Later, CNN also reported on depleted ammunition stockpiles. According to the TV channel, during the five-month conflict with Iran, the US spent nearly 80 percent of its THAAD interceptor missile stockpiles and approximately half of its Patriot missiles.

Meanwhile, Reuters wrote that the US military had used up almost all of its stockpiles of long-range ATACMS and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM).

In September, Bloomberg, citing anonymous officials, wrote that the US was replenishing its ammunition stockpiles, which had been depleted due to the conflict with Iran, and had therefore warned its allies that it might delay the delivery of necessary weapons to them. According to sources, this delay could last up to five years.

Trump has repeatedly denied these reports, emphasizing that the US military has a sufficient amount of ammunition. According to him, the United States has "far more ammunition than any other country in the world." He also threatened to imprison those who "leaked treasonous information."
