Trucks pile up at the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border
About 400 trucks heading to Kyrgyzstan have become stuck at the Karasu border crossing in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region. Officials are blaming the situation on a seasonal increase in freight traffic and temperature restrictions imposed on freight traffic.
A truck traffic jam has formed on the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyz border. According to the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan, about 400 trucks traveling in the direction of Kyrgyzstan have accumulated at the "Qarasu" checkpoint in Zhambyl region.
This temporary traffic jam is associated with several factors. In particular, the seasonal increase in international cargo traffic and temperature restrictions introduced for the movement of freight transport on the territory of Kyrgyzstan have caused the accumulation of trucks.
In order to reduce the queue, the Kazakh side has increased the activities of border services and has begun to redirect some trucks to neighboring checkpoints. Negotiations are also underway with Kyrgyz authorities to coordinate the situation.
Long waiting times can lead to additional costs, lengthen delivery times and negatively affect regional trade.
