Three cases of fraud and extortion identified in Tashkent and Tashkent region

Three episodes of fraud and extortion related to receiving money for resolving issues with studies and job retention have been identified in Tashkent and the Tashkent region. In two cases, the suspects received a total of 13,000 dollars, and in another — 5 million soums.

In the Yakkasaray district of Tashkent, a suspect was detained while receiving 12,000 dollars. According to the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel, the man promised to help another person gain admission to study in exchange for this money.

In the Mirabad district of the capital, another suspect received one thousand dollars for promising to transfer a student to the fourth year. He was also caught red-handed.

Another episode was uncovered by officers of the Kibray district department of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.

The head of the branches of the "Toza Hudud" state unitary enterprise for Yangiyul and the Yangiyul district received five million soums from a subordinate. According to the investigation, the money was handed over in exchange for a promise not to dismiss the employee and to allow him to continue working without obstacles.

Criminal cases have been initiated for all three facts, and investigative actions are underway.

Earlier in Namangan, a previously convicted employee of the People's Reception Office was detained for promising to secure a land plot for house construction in exchange for 1.5 thousand dollars.
