The State Security Service of Uzbekistan (SSS) has uncovered a number of fraudulent schemes involving promises of employment abroad for Uzbeks.

A previously convicted man was arrested in Tashkent for demanding 145 million soums (US$1.5 million) to arrange work in Slovakia for six residents of the Kashkadarya region. He was caught red-handed accepting an advance payment of 85 million soums (US$1.5 million).

In another incident, the head of a Tashkent-based consulting firm specializing in visa services fraudulently obtained US$4,000. He promised to obtain a visa and find employment for the citizen in Germany.

A similar case was recorded in the Tashkent region, where a woman received US$5,900 by promising to obtain a visa and send a resident of Angren to work in South Korea.

Criminal cases have been opened against the suspects in all of these cases. An investigation is currently underway, according to the SSS.
