The US has once again postponed the start of registration for the Green Card DV-2027

US Postpones Start of Green Card DV-2027 Registration Again
The launch of the Diversity Visa DV-2027 lottery has been called into question once again due to litigation in the US. An appeals court has stayed a ruling that required the Department of State to open applications no later than November 1, 2026. New registration dates have not yet been announced.
The cause of the uncertainty was a legal dispute initiated by the law firm Red Eagle Law. It filed a lawsuit demanding an early launch of registration for DV-2027 program participants.
Initially, a lower court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and ordered the US government to establish a deadline for opening application entries. However, the Department of State appealed the decision.
The court of appeals granted the US government's petition and stayed the previous court order. As a result, the previously established deadline of November 1, 2026, is no longer in effect.
The DV-2027 program has not been canceled, but its start date remains uncertain and will depend on the further course of the legal proceedings.
Potential participants are advised to verify information only on the official Department of State website — travel.state.gov. Experts warn not to trust intermediaries or reports of alleged registration openings until an official announcement is published by the US authorities.
US authorities decided to suspend the Green Card lottery following a shooting at Brown University. It was revealed that the suspect had previously entered the country on a DV visa and obtained a green card.
