"The US has no strategy to end the war with Iran" - Schumer

The US lacks a strategy to end the war with Iran, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said on his social media page.

Schumer noted that despite the fact that six months have passed since the war began, Iran is holding the Strait of Hormuz as a means of pressure, gasoline prices in the US have risen to record levels and 18 American service members have been killed. According to the senator, President Trump still does not have a clear strategy on how to end this destructive war that he started.

In his opinion, the war has led to a decrease in US military reserves, a weakening of the country's military position and an increase in gasoline prices. Schumer called the operation with Iran a failure.

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries also called the war irresponsible and called for the dismissal of US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Jeffries said the war should end, and taxpayers' money should be spent on making life easier for people.

The US and Israeli military operation against Iran began on February 28. Although Trump initially said the war would last a few weeks, the conflict has lasted more than six months. According to Reuters, the White House has not yet found a clear way to end the war, despite alternating military pressure, negotiations and economic sanctions.

Earlier, Trump said that the US would soon end the war with Iran through a deal or tough measures. In late July, it became known that Trump was considering three options for continuing the war with Iran. They included increasing military escalation, applying new economic pressure on Iran, or declaring victory and withdrawing from the conflict.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has previously said that it would be better to end the war today. He believes that the goal cannot be to continue the conflict indefinitely. At the same time, the Iranian side has also mentioned the possibility of continuing the war until the end of Trump's presidency, that is, for several more years.
