Following the announcement of the 30 official contenders for the "Ballon d'Or", The Athletic has presented its ranking of players expected to win the award.

According to the publication's authors, England national team captain and Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane currently has the greatest chance of winning the prestigious individual award.

The forward scored 61 goals for the German giants last season and was awarded the European Golden Shoe.

Additionally, as captain of the England national team, Kane helped his team win the bronze medals at the 2026 World Cup.

The 2026 "Ballon d'Or" award ceremony will be held in London instead of Paris for the first time in history. The British capital was chosen as the host in honor of the first recipient of the award, Englishman Stanley Matthews, who won the trophy 70 years ago. The winner's name will be announced on October 26.
