"The Times" newspaper officially apologized to FIFA and Gianni Infantino
The British newspaper "The Times" has officially apologized to FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino.
In an article published on October 13, the publication claimed that Infantino had received an undeclared payment in 2024 from the FWC2026 entity organizing the World Cup. Now, the newspaper has admitted that this information regarding Gianni Infantino receiving a "second salary" in the amount of $1.76 million was incorrect.
As "The Times" clarified, Infantino's expenses and received compensations do not constitute remuneration (salary) under Swiss financial reporting rules and are not required to be included in FIFA's annual report. The newspaper also retracted its allegations that the FIFA president had purchased real estate in Miami at a discounted price.
