The Soviet mosaic of the Zharsky brothers will be preserved in Tashkent.
The Khokimiyat of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district promised to preserve and restore the Soviet mosaic of the Zharsky brothers on a house in the Turon mahalla.
Authorities in Tashkent's Mirzo-Ulugbek District have assured that the Soviet-era mosaic by the Zharsky brothers, located on Building No. 1 in the Turon mahalla, will be preserved and restored. This announcement follows social media reports of an attempt to paint over the mosaic during renovations on the building's façade.
According to information circulating online, the unique mosaic artwork was being painted over in order to integrate it into a modern mural. Following a wave of outrage from local residents and active public discussion, work on the site was suspended.
The Mirzo-Ulugbek District Khokimiyat confirmed that the artistic mosaic will be preserved and restored. The administration emphasized that an individual approach will be taken to this site, taking into account all its unique features.
Currently, no work is being carried out on the mosaic. Its condition is being assessed by specialized specialists. After receiving their expert opinion, authorities will develop a further restoration plan.
The khokimiyat also noted that every effort will be made to preserve the original appearance of this artistic treasure during the restoration process.
The district administration expressed gratitude to the city residents for their dedication to preserving their architectural heritage.
