President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom Alexey Likhachev on October 23, according to a report from the press service of the head of state.
The President received the Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation.
"The focus of attention was on the practical implementation of the project to construct the first integrated nuclear power plant in our country, as well as the development of related infrastructure based on advanced technologies and knowledge," the statement said.
It was specified that the ongoing work on the construction of the foundation for the first reactor building and the design of the nuclear power plant were noted with satisfaction.
Special attention was paid to the training of qualified personnel for the industry, including at the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and at Rosatom facilities.
In addition, prospects for cooperation on creating an atomgrad (nuclear workers' town) near the future NPP were discussed, featuring energy-efficient housing, modern educational, medical, and sports facilities, as well as other comfortable social infrastructure, the press service specified.
