The President of Uzbekistan signed a law on improving the Uzbek Latin-based alphabet. Saida Mirziyoyeva announced this on October 21 in her Telegram channel.
According to her, current documents, the national currency, and securities will remain valid. Textbooks, signs, and pointer boards will be replaced gradually as their service life expires.
Mirziyoyeva also noted that she came forward with the initiative to refine the alphabet in December 2023. In her view, these changes will help eliminate writing deficiencies and strengthen the position of the Uzbek language in the digital space.
