President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with a presentation of proposals on social protection of the population, especially needy families, during the autumn-winter season.

The growing geopolitical tension in the world, rising prices for energy resources and raw materials, and disruptions in supply and logistics chains are increasing inflationary pressure in many countries. In such a situation, easing the expenses of the population and providing targeted assistance to families in need is of particular importance.

During the presentation, issues of expanding the existing support mechanisms for payments for electricity, gas, coal, and utility services were considered.

In particular, the proposal to increase the basic electricity norm from 200 kilowatt-hours to 350 kilowatt-hours during the heating season in non-gasified areas and regions where gas does not reach was approved.

It was proposed to consider the issue of allocating one-time financial assistance to needy families in December.

Also, a proposal was considered to increase the income criterion applied to each family member to 1 million 430 thousand soums when covering the expenses for electricity, gas, coal, and utility services of needy families not included in the Social Register. As a result, the scope of support will expand to another 166 thousand families.

It was proposed to extend the period for covering part of the consumption costs exceeding the basic norm for electricity and gas until April 1, 2028. This measure is expected to cover 470 thousand families per year. Work on thermal insulation and providing energy-saving equipment to 3 thousand households in neighborhoods with difficult conditions will also continue.

The head of our state instructed the Government to timely allocate funds for the designated assistance, ensure target orientation in identifying needy families, and strengthen control over the assistance reaching every family.

In addition, a number of instructions were given on transforming the activities of enterprises producing and supplying energy resources, increasing management efficiency, and reducing excess costs and losses in the networks.
