Oncology Center Denies Reports of Canceling Free Services for Tashkent Residents

The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology has denied reports regarding the termination of free services for patients from Tashkent.

The institution clarified that it is not the procedure for providing free care that has changed, but rather the patient referral system. Now, residents of the capital, like patients from other regions, are referred to the center through the DMED electronic system.

First, a patient visits a family clinic, where they undergo the necessary primary examinations free of charge. Following an examination by a district or city oncologist and additional tests, an electronic referral is generated in the DMED system.

Once confirmed by the oncology center, the patient is provided with the necessary services free of charge, including contrast-enhanced examinations, CT/MRI, PET-CT, histology, immunohistochemistry, as well as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical treatment.

The center emphasized that the transition to electronic referrals is due to the need to reduce the workload on the institution and eliminate the duplication of primary examinations. Furthermore, this allows funds from the State Medical Insurance Fund to be directed specifically toward high-tech medical care.

It is prohibited to demand payment for diagnostics, treatment, medications, and consumables from patients admitted with a referral. Routine visits without a referral are conducted on a paid basis. Emergency medical care is provided free of charge and without a referral.

If money or the purchase of medicines is demanded at the oncology center despite having a referral, they urged people to contact the hotline at 1303.
