According to the National Statistics Committee, by the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, there were 11,118 general education schools operating in Uzbekistan, which is 1.3 times more than in the 1991/1992 academic year.

In the 1991/1992 academic year, there were 8,557 such institutions in the country. By the 1995/1996 academic year, their number had increased to 9,289, and by 2000/2001, it had reached 9,726.

In the 2005/2006 academic year, this figure was 9,803 organizations, and in 2010/2011, 9,806. However, by the 2015/2016 academic year, the number of schools had decreased to 9,720.

Subsequently, there was steady growth: in the 2020/2021 academic year, there were 10,181 general education organizations operating in the country, and in 2021/2022, 10,289.

By the 2022/2023 academic year, their number had increased to 10,522, in 2023/2024, to 10,750, and in In 2024/2025, the number of general education institutions increased to 10,943.

At the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, the number of general education institutions reached 11,118.

Thus, from 1991/1992 to the 2025/2026 academic year, the number of general education institutions in Uzbekistan increased from 8,557 to 11,118.
