Next Summit of the Organization of Turkic States to Be Held in Uzbekistan

On October 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Ankara.

The forum, held under the motto "The Turkic Century: Unity in Language, Thought, and Action," was also attended by the presidents of Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States.

The summit discussed pressing issues on the agenda and considered prospects for further deepening practical cooperation among the member states.

At the beginning of his speech, the leader of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the President of Türkiye for the high level of organization of the summit.

It was noted that the opening of the national-cultural complex of our states in the picturesque Beştepe park on the eve of the event was an important step in preserving the shared heritage of the Turkic peoples. Confidence was expressed that this majestic structure will become a bright symbol of unity for the Turkic world.

The President emphasized that today the system of international relations is undergoing fundamental changes, and geopolitical competition is intensifying. Ongoing armed conflicts and contradictions in the regions surrounding the Turkic world affect security and development prospects.

In this regard, the head of state drew attention to the need for further consolidation of the Organization of Turkic States as a platform for mutual trust and practical partnership.

"We are united on this noble path and are ready to mobilize our strength for the sake of Turkic solidarity," the President stated.

The head of state voiced a number of important initiatives aimed at elevating cooperation between the Turkic states to a qualitatively new level.

The importance of regular political consultations on pressing international and regional issues within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as the coordination of approaches and efforts, was highlighted. To this end, it was proposed to launch cooperation with third countries in the "Organization of Turkic States Plus" format, starting with meetings of sectoral ministers.

"These dialogues should be aimed at implementing specific joint projects in trade, transport, investments, and other priority areas," Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

It was proposed to adopt the "Turkic World - 100" Program, which will cover one hundred strategic joint investment and industrial projects, including the processing of rare minerals and the localization of equipment production for "green" energy. The attraction of resources from the Turkic Investment Fund and international financial institutions will play an important role in the implementation of these projects.

Additionally, in order to protect the interests of entrepreneurs, an initiative was put forward to draft a multilateral agreement "On Mutual Legal Assistance in Commercial Matters," as well as to create a digital platform for the electronic exchange of legal assistance requests and documents.

Under current conditions of changing global supply chains, the geographical position and transit capabilities of the Turkic states are acquiring increasingly strategic importance.

To transform the Middle Corridor into a unified economic system, it was proposed to create a "Network of Logistics Complexes of Turkic States" and ensure its joint management. This will allow countries to expand their participation in international freight transport and logistics, as well as increase economic engagement.

To expand tourism potential, it was proposed to create a "Turkic Tourism Alliance," as well as to draft a multilateral agreement providing for the simplification of mutual travel for citizens and expanding opportunities for travel using ID cards.

Readiness was expressed to annually allocate educational grants to representatives of Turkic states within the framework of the "Yangi O'zbekiston" scholarship program for foreign students established in Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, special gratitude was expressed for supporting the initiative to declare 2027 the Year of Nature Protection within the organization. The presentation of the international award named after the great thinker and statesman Alisher Navoi, established on the initiative of Uzbekistan, to the Honored Art Worker of Kazakhstan, Ambassador Düsen Kaseinov, was noted with satisfaction.

Based on the motto of the current summit, it was proposed to create a "Dictionary of Common Turkic Words," which will include common words of our languages that are equally understandable to all Turkic peoples.

"I am confident that today's Ankara Summit will be an important step toward achieving our noble goal, embodying the idea of solidarity, and implementing large-scale plans. After all, we have similar dreams, hopes, and aspirations. When we are united, we become even stronger. If we remain consolidated, we will certainly reach the highest peaks," the head of our state stated in conclusion of his speech.

During the event, a decision was made to support the candidacy of Uzbekistan's representative, Mirvokhid Azimov, for the post of the organization's new Secretary General, and to hold the next summit in Uzbekistan next year.

Following the summit, the Ankara Declaration and a number of documents aimed at further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the participating countries of the Organization were adopted.
