The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services has corrected data on illegal high-rise buildings in Tashkent: 61 instead of 720

In Tashkent, 61 illegally constructed apartment buildings were identified, rather than more than 720, as previously stated by the Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sherzod Khidoyatov. The ministry acknowledged the error and offered an apology. In total, there are over 320 illegal construction sites in the capital, including private houses.

The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services clarified information on illegal multi-story residential buildings in Tashkent: 61 instead of 720

On October 22, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan published a clarification regarding the number of illegally constructed multi-apartment residential buildings in Tashkent.

The ministry reported that more than 320 illegal construction sites have been identified in the capital. This number includes buildings and structures of various categories, including individual residential houses, small shops, commercial kiosks, and pavilions.

At the same time, the number of illegally built multi-apartment residential buildings is 61.

"In the response provided by us, the total number of construction objects was mistakenly stated as the number of multi-apartment residential buildings. We apologize for this error," the ministry's statement reads.

The ministry also asked journalists and authors of social media posts to take into account the clarified data.

It may be recalled that on October 13, the Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Sherzod Khidoyatov, speaking at the "Government Hour" in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, stated that in Tashkent alone, there are more than 720 multi-apartment residential buildings constructed without permits from architectural authorities.

According to him, many entrepreneurs built housing on land plots acquired through auctions before the approval of the capital's master plan at the end of 2024.

"Today this has become a very painful problem. In Tashkent alone, there are more than 720 such multi-story buildings. We conducted an inventory of constructed houses across the entire republic. These are problematic objects built without permits from architectural authorities," Khidoyatov stated at the time.

The minister reported that the Prosecutor General's Office is dealing with these objects.

He also spoke about the development of a procedure for commissioning such houses. For this, it will be necessary to ensure that the buildings comply with urban planning requirements, including the availability of playgrounds and parking spaces, as well as to check their structural strength through instrumental inspection.

In this case, according to him, no issues regarding seismic safety and legality will arise.
