The Migration Agency appealed to Uzbeks who are not being allowed to return from Russia

The Migration Agency has appealed to Uzbek citizens stranded in Russia, urging them not to delay seeking assistance if they encounter financial or other serious problems returning home.

According to the agency's press service, citizens who are unable to return to Uzbekistan due to a difficult financial situation or other difficult circumstances during their stay in the Russian Federation can contact the Migration Agency's representative office in Russia.

In July of this year, it was reported that about 600 Uzbeks were repatriated from Russia. During the first seven months of 2026, 2,888 Uzbek citizens who found themselves in a difficult situation abroad were repatriated by the Migration Agency.

According to statistics from the Russian Border Guard Service, the number of people from Uzbekistan going to work in Russia has decreased. To work in Russia, a patent is required, which is issued for a period of up to one year. The reduction in the number of people going to work was influenced by the tightening of migration policy and the increase in the cost of patents.

The war against Ukraine is also affecting the reduction in the number of citizens going to work in Russia. Since the beginning of the war, there have been several cases of migrants being recruited into the Russian army.
