At the meeting of the national headquarters, issues related to preparing the Kyrgyz economy and population for the 2026-2027 cold season were discussed.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the country's projected electricity demand in 2027 will be 19.6 billion kilowatt-hours. Domestic production will only be able to meet 15.5 billion kilowatt-hours. The deficit of 4.1 billion kilowatt-hours is planned to be covered by imports.
It was noted that the current water level in the Toktogul Reservoir is lower than last year's level for the same period. Therefore, the headquarters members were instructed to ensure more efficient use of water resources and strictly adhere to established electricity consumption limits.
The meeting also discussed the need to complete repairs on hydroelectric power plant units in a timely manner and carry out all necessary work at thermal power plants. To successfully navigate the upcoming heating season, the republic will require 45,500 tons of fuel oil and over 3.4 million tons of coal. Fuel deliveries to depots are proceeding according to schedule, and tendering and contract signing are ongoing.
According to the approved plan, all work to prepare the economy and population for the autumn-winter period must be completed by October.
