The largest number of citizens of Turkmenistan came to study in Uzbekistan

In January-June 2026, more than 21,000 foreign citizens came to Uzbekistan to study. Among them, citizens of Turkmenistan made up the largest share, more than 9.2 thousand people.

Citizens of Turkmenistan are leading the way in the number of foreigners coming to study in Uzbekistan.

According to the National Statistics Committee, a total of 21,042 foreign citizens came to Uzbekistan to study in the first six months of this year. This number is 11.5 thousand or 2.2 times more than in the same period last year.

Among foreigners who chose to study in Uzbekistan, citizens of Turkmenistan are the largest, with 9,207 of them. They are followed by India (3,723), Tajikistan (1,915), China (951), Kyrgyzstan (834) and Pakistan (689).

Also, 603 citizens from Egypt, 526 from South Korea, 367 from the Philippines and 302 from the United States visited Uzbekistan to study. The remaining 1,925 foreigners came from other countries.

According to data, the number of foreigners coming to Uzbekistan to study has more than doubled in one year.
