Future US military base in Poland may be named after Trump

Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that if a permanent US military base is established on the country's territory, it will be named Fort Trump in honor of Donald Trump.

Trump himself is expected to attend the opening of the base

Karol Nawrocki said that the approval of the project is only a matter of time. He hopes the base will be completed by 2029, when Trump's presidential term ends.

"Once the American administration and the governments of both countries finalize the work, I think President Trump will personally attend the opening of the Fort Trump base," the Polish President said.

It is noted that before construction begins, the parties must resolve the remaining organizational and financial issues. In August, it was reported that plans were underway to establish a permanent US military base in Poland.

10,000 American soldiers and a new plan

Currently, about 10,000 American soldiers are deployed in Poland on a rotational basis. According to Nawrocki, if Washington reduces the number of its troops in Germany, Warsaw is ready to host some of them on its territory.

The proposal to establish a permanent US military base in Poland was first put forward in 2018 by then-President Andrzej Duda. In September 2026, US representatives visited Poland to inspect potential sites for the construction of the base.

Meanwhile, just yesterday, Trump announced the construction of two large military bases in Greenland and an increase in the US military presence there. He emphasizes that the agreement reached with Denmark and Greenland will allow Washington to establish permanent control over the island's security.
