The film "Cotton" won the grand prize at the "Eurasian Bridge" festival

The film "Cotton", directed by Rashid Malikov, was recognized as the best feature film at the X "Eurasian Bridge" International Film Festival. Nine feature films and nine documentary films from 14 countries participated in the competition programs of the anniversary festival, which took place on October 5–9 in Moscow.

He studied feature film directing at the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1986. In 1993, he completed an internship in the USA under the "FILM IN US" program. He is a participant and winner of numerous film festivals.

"Cotton" tells the story of a woman who overcomes problems and trials in her life, searching for a new meaning to live. At the center of the film are human inner experiences, holding oneself together in the face of difficulties, and striving to rebuild one's life.

The world premiere of the film "Cotton" took place in November 2025 at one of the major Category A film festivals — the Cairo International Film Festival. The film has been screened at numerous film festivals and won the "Best Screenplay" award at the "Eurasian FilmFest" film festival in Sochi in July 2026.

Rashid Malikov is currently participating in the preparation process for the "Tashkent Content Market" international event, which will be held for the first time in Tashkent on February 4–5, 2027, in cooperation with the Content Center. Such platforms allow creators of films and television shows to get acquainted with foreign partners, bring their works to the international market, and jointly launch new projects.

The success of the film "Cotton" at the international festival shows that the stories of Uzbek creators are generating interest among audiences and experts from various countries. Meanwhile, the "Tashkent Content Market" is expected to create new opportunities to transform this interest into practical cooperation.
