The female face of the defense ministry

In Kazakhstan, a woman has become Deputy Minister of Defense for the first time

The Female Face of the Defense Department

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Tatyana Savelyeva as Deputy Minister of Defense. The corresponding decree was published by Akorda. T. Savelyeva joined the Ministry of Defense with many years of experience in the field of public finance and budget planning.

The appointment took place immediately after her departure from the Kurultai. On October 6, the Central Election Commission established the grounds for the early termination of her deputy powers following her submitted application, and on October 7, the Kurultai officially terminated her mandate.

She was born on April 11, 1976. She graduated from the Akmola Agrarian University with a degree in Economics and Management, and later from the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University with a degree in Economics.

She began her career in government bodies in the financial system of Astana, after which she worked in the ministries of finance, economy, and budget planning. Over the years, she held positions as head of departments responsible for budget development, evaluation of budget programs, and budget policy.

From 2016 to 2023, Savelyeva served as Vice Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan.

In 2023, she became a deputy of the Mazhilis of the VIII convocation from the AMANAT party. From February 2024, she headed the Committee on Finance and Budget. After the transformation of the parliamentary system in 2026, Savelyeva was elected as a deputy of the Kurultai from the "Adilet" party and joined the Committee on Finance and Budget.

In essence, her appointment strengthens the financial and budgetary direction in the leadership of the defense department: a significant part of Savelyeva's professional career has been precisely linked to the planning of public expenditures and budget programs.

At the same time, the president dismissed Deputy Minister of Defense Asker Beisenov, who had held the post since April 2023 and also specialized in economics, finance, and auditing in the Armed Forces.
