The countries benefiting the most economically from tourism have been revealed
In 2025, the contribution of travel and tourism to the US economy reached $2.63 trillion. China ranked second, and Germany took third place according to this indicator. The ranking covers not only the money spent by foreign tourists, but also domestic travel and other economic activities related to tourism.

In addition to the activities of hotels, restaurants, and transport companies, the evaluation also took into account the economic impact generated through suppliers of goods and services to them, as well as the spending of industry employees. For this reason, this list is not identical to the ranking of countries that received the most foreign tourists.
The top three are as follows:
USA - $2.63 trillion;
China - $1.75 trillion;
Germany - $566 billion.
The USA's figure is almost 50 percent higher than China's. The gap between the two countries reached $880 billion. This is larger than the contribution of tourism to the economy in any other single country.
Germany managed to become a leader in Europe, outpacing popular tourist destinations such as France and Spain. The size of the country's domestic market played an important role in this.
In 2025, almost 83 percent of overnight stays recorded in Germany were accounted for by the country's residents. Despite a decrease in overnight stays by foreign guests, an annual record result was recorded in accommodation facilities due to domestic demand.
Japan, meanwhile, hosted a record 42.7 million foreign tourists in 2025. This is 15.8 percent more than in 2024. Along with seasonal destinations such as cherry blossom viewing and winter sports, the Expo world fair held in Osaka also provided an additional impetus for travel.
China's tourism economy grew by 9.9 percent in 2025. This is more than double the average global growth rate. The number of foreign tourists increased by 15.5 percent, exceeding 68 million, and their spending rose above pre-pandemic levels.
The simplification of entry procedures to the country is also helping to attract tourists. China has expanded the list of visa-free countries and extended the allowed stay periods for transit passengers. The convenience of border crossing processes and digital payment services is also making travel easier.
