The Central Bank of Uzbekistan and Tencent discussed the integration of the country's Unified QR System with international payment ecosystems.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan and Tencent held talks on the development of cross-border QR payments. During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum 2026, the potential integration of Uzbekistan's Unified QR Payment System with international payment platforms was discussed, according to the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A key issue was the prospects for integrating Uzbekistan's national QR infrastructure with international payment systems. This integration is intended to simplify cashless payments for both Uzbek residents and foreign citizens visiting the country.
In particular, connecting the Unified QR System to global payment networks could provide foreign tourists and other visitors to Uzbekistan with the opportunity to pay for goods and services using their preferred payment apps. For Uzbek citizens, this, in turn, will open up new opportunities for using QR payments while traveling abroad.
During the meeting, the parties also examined Tencent's experience in integrating national QR infrastructures with international payment ecosystems. This experience is expected to be applied in further discussions of possible solutions for Uzbekistan.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to hold additional technical meetings. These meetings are planned to identify further steps for cooperation and develop a detailed roadmap for integrating Uzbekistan's Unified QR Payment System with international payment ecosystems.
