The boundaries of the city of Zarafshon and the Tomdi, Qiziriq, and Jarqo‘rg‘on districts will be reconsidered

On September 10, during a Senate session, decisions regarding the alteration of the boundaries of the city of Zarafshon and the Tomdi district of the Navoiy region, as well as the Qiziriq and Jarqo‘rg‘on districts of the Surxondaryo region, were reviewed and approved.

According to the draft decision, it is planned to transfer 2,459 hectares of land from the Tomdi district of the Navoiy region to the city of Zarafshon.

As noted in the Senate report, it is planned to establish industrial, manufacturing, service, commercial, social, and residential infrastructure in the new territories.

In particular, it is envisaged to implement more than 250 industrial and manufacturing projects on the new land plots, utilizing the existing mineral raw material base. It is also planned to gradually construct new residential areas, internal roads, electricity, drinking water, sewerage, and heating supply networks.

The establishment of 90 social sector facilities, including preschool and general education, medical, cultural, and sports facilities, is envisaged in the area.

In addition, more than 500 commercial and service facilities are expected to be established, resulting in the creation of over 15,000 new jobs.

It was noted that the territorial change will create opportunities to increase the investment attractiveness of the city of Zarafshon, efficiently utilize mineral raw materials, establish new production capacities, and improve the living conditions of the population.

In the Surxondaryo region, it is proposed to transfer 4,740 hectares of land from the Jarqo‘rg‘on district to the Qiziriq district.

A total of 4,200 people, or 710 families, reside in this area. Their daily social life is connected with the Qiziriq district. However, because the territory administratively belongs to the Jarqo‘rg‘on district, residents are forced to travel to the administrative center of the Jarqo‘rg‘on district to resolve tax and utility payments, social benefits, pensions, and other official matters.

Residents have to travel a distance of 18–20 kilometers to reach the district center. At the same time, children in the area receive education and upbringing in schools and preschool education organizations in the Qiziriq district.

The report stated that numerous appeals had been received from the population of this area regarding the resolution of the administrative issue, including appeals to transfer 816 residential houses and other utility buildings to the Qiziriq district.

It was emphasized that the boundary changes will serve to facilitate the population's access to public services and prevent the waste of extra time and expenses.

There are 4,670 hectares of agricultural land in the transferred territory. Their efficient use is expected to create additional opportunities for the development of livestock breeding and agriculture, as well as for increasing employment and incomes of the population.

In particular, the installation of 4 water pump stations on the "Chap tarmoq" (Left Branch) canal will make it possible to develop more than 500 hectares of land. As a result, it will be possible to expand the cultivation of melons and vegetables, as well as to strengthen the fodder base of households engaged in livestock breeding.

As a result of these measures, it is envisaged to create the capacity to produce 1,200 tons of products annually.

The proposed changes for both territories have been discussed and supported by the respective Kengashes (Councils) of People's Deputies.
