Members of the Legislative Chamber supported changes to the borders of Gulistan, Shirin, and districts of the Syrdarya region.

The administrative boundaries of cities and districts in the Syrdarya region will be adjusted.
Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved a draft resolution concerning changes to the boundaries of the cities of Gulistan, Shirin, and Yangiyer, as well as several districts in the Syrdarya region.
This document provides for the redistribution of land plots between the region's administrative-territorial units.
According to the draft, the city of Gulistan will be expanded to include 527.23 hectares of land in the Gulistan district and 582 hectares of land in the Bayavut district. The city of Shirin, in turn, will receive 638.77 hectares of land in the Bayavut district.
The draft also affects changes to the boundaries of the Gulistan, Bayavut, Mirzaabad, Akaltyn, Sardoba, Saykhunabad, Syrdarya, and Khavast districts of the Syrdarya region, as well as the cities of Gulistan, Shirin, and Yangiyer.
During the discussions, it was emphasized that Gulistan and Shirin are among the most densely populated areas in the region. Expanding the city boundaries is expected to help reduce population density within the city limits and improve transportation infrastructure.
Furthermore, the change in administrative boundaries is intended to create favorable conditions for the implementation of major projects and stimulate the influx of both foreign and local investment. The expected results also include the creation of new industrial zones and technology parks, the development of high-tech industries, and the creation of new jobs in construction, services, and manufacturing.
As noted during the review of the draft, the implementation of these measures should ultimately contribute to an increase in the population's income.
The issue of changing the boundaries was previously discussed at mahalla citizen assemblies, meetings of district and city councils of people's deputies, and the regional council of people's deputies.
Following these discussions, cartographic materials and a description of the new boundaries were approved.
Deputies of the Legislative Chamber supported the draft resolution.
