The best player of the World Cup moved to Barcelona

Barcelona have officially announced the transfer of midfielder Rodri from Manchester City.

The World Cup's best player has joined Barcelona.

The 30-year-old Spanish player has signed a contract with the Catalan club until 2030. The total cost of this transfer, including bonuses, was 76.5 million euros.

Rodri played for Manchester City for seven seasons and won 12 trophies with the club. These include four English championships and the Champions League. In 2024, he was awarded the Ballon d'Or.

In the summer of 2026, Rodri became the world champion as part of the Spanish national team. He was also recognized as the best player of the World Cup and won the Golden Ball of the tournament. In the final, Spain defeated Argentina 1-0.

Barcelona have strengthened their squad with the reigning world champion and World Cup winner. Rodri himself had previously described his move to the Catalan club as a dream come true.
