The "Ballon d'Or" should go to a Spanish footballer — Luis de la Fuente

The head coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, said that the 2026 "Ballon d'Or" award should be given to one of his compatriots.

"I think one of the Spanish players should win this award. I have been saying for a long time that Spanish players are the best in the world in many aspects: technique, tactics, understanding of the game, and other aspects. There are no other players like them in the world. Spanish players are perfect in every way. And I mean not only the players on the field, but also the goalkeepers," Luis de la Fuente said in an interview with AS.

Under De la Fuente, the Spanish national team won the 2022/2023 UEFA Nations League, the 2024 European Championship, and the 2026 World Cup.

Among the nominees for the "Ballon d'Or" are six players of the Spanish national team: Pau Cubarsí, Marc Cucurella, Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Fabián Ruiz, and Ferran Torres.

The winner of the "Ballon d'Or" award will be announced at a ceremony in London on October 26.
