The armies of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey practiced repelling drone attacks and amphibious landings
Over 3.5 thousand service members from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey took part in the first joint exercise "Power of Unity – 2026," which took place from September 22 to October 1.
The maneuvers were held at training grounds in Baku, Nakhchivan, the Karabakh region, and the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The exercise utilized more than 130 unmanned systems, over 70 armored vehicles, more than 90 artillery systems, and over 20 aircraft. A significant part of the program was dedicated to the employment of drones: the military practiced repelling swarm drone attacks, conducting aerial reconnaissance, striking columns, delivering ammunition and supplies, as well as coordinating UAVs with artillery, aviation, and electronic warfare assets.
The exercise scenario also included breaching defensive lines and anti-tank ditches, mine clearance, clearing populated areas, setting up checkpoints, and countering cyberattacks involving disinformation.
During the maritime phase in the Caspian, units conducted a landing operation to liberate a hijacked vessel and an offshore facility, rescue hostages, and destroy a simulated terrorist base. Military representatives from Iran, Georgia, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the UAE observed the maneuvers.
The heads of the defense departments of the three countries noted the high level of coordination among the units and the importance of jointly practicing land, sea, and air operations to strengthen security.
