In the US, the Theodor Heuss aircraft, which was used by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, has been put up for sale.

The A340-300 airliner was put up for sale by the US broker Jetcraft. Built in 2000, the aircraft has flown a total of 50,710 hours and made 8,768 landings. It can accommodate up to 145 passengers, with 24 seats designated for business class and 94 for economy class. In addition, there is a luxury suite with several seats and a conference room on board.

The airliner is decorated with luxurious wood panels engraved with the Berlin skyline and fitted with white leather armchairs. Some of the seats can be converted into beds if necessary. The aircraft is also equipped with a shower.

The VVIP-level retrofitting was carried out in 2011. In this configuration, the aircraft was comfortable for non-stop long-distance flights. The aircraft's former government status can be recognized by the black-red-gold stripe running along its fuselage. However, it is planned to paint it completely white before it is put up for sale.

The price of the aircraft has not yet been set; it will be agreed upon during negotiations. Its previous owner was the US company CSDS Asset Management. It also leased this Airbus. The lease price without crew was $200,000 per month, with maintenance costs amounting to an additional $75,000.

CSDS has previously tried to sell the airliner. In 2024, it could be purchased for 8 million US dollars, but the new owner of the aircraft had to cover the costs of the scheduled technical inspection. The aircraft with a completed technical inspection was offered for 12 million dollars.

Currently, the aircraft is parked at the Jetcraft broker's facility in the US. A buyer is being actively sought for it, including through social networks.
