Thailand considers introducing a 30-day visa-free regime for tourists from four countries, including citizens of Uzbekistan
Thailand is considering the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of Belarus, Mexico, and Colombia, as well as the restoration of visa-free entry for citizens of Uzbekistan. These initiatives received support from the country's National Tourism Policy Committee.
This issue was considered at a meeting of the committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Suphajee Suthumpun. The proposals must now be coordinated with relevant agencies and approved by the government.
As reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, the agency plans to expedite discussions on visa relaxations with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior. After that, the documents will be submitted for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers.
At the same time, the duration of the possible visa-free stay for citizens of Uzbekistan has not yet been determined. Previously, the Thai side discussed an option permitting entry for a period of up to 15 days. Until a final decision is made, citizens of Uzbekistan still need to obtain a visa prior to their trip.
In addition, Thai authorities intend to speed up the issuance of e-visas, as lengthy application processing creates difficulties for foreign tourists and travel companies.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that Uzbekistan and Thailand agreed to prepare an agreement on visa-free travel. At that time, the possibility of allowing citizens of Uzbekistan to stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 15 days was discussed. The document is currently under consideration by the Thai side.
