**Borijar Street in Tashkent renamed Beijing Street**

Borijar Street in the Rakatboshi neighborhood of Tashkent’s Yakkasaray district has been renamed Beijing Street, according to the Sept. 25 decision of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies.

The decision approves a proposal from the Yakkasaray district administration to change the street’s name. The proposal was first reviewed at a June 29 meeting of the Tashkent city commission on naming and renaming geographical features.

Property addresses on the street will be updated to match the change. The Tashkent city department of the Chamber of State Cadastres has been instructed to finish the work within two months and notify residents whose addresses have changed.

The city’s Main Urban Improvement Department must replace street signs and signboards within three months to reflect the new name. The Yakkasaray district administration and other responsible bodies have been assigned to amend the relevant documents and carry out public outreach about the new name. The decision came into force on the day it was officially published.

It was previously reported that part of Abdulla Qodiriy Street in Tashkent will be named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
