Tashkent proposes moving the start of the khokimiyats' working day to 8:00 a.m.

Tashkent is considering an initiative to change the start time of the workday for city administrations.

The Tashkent city administration has submitted for public discussion a draft proposal to change the work schedule for city and district administrations, as well as city departments and their subordinate agencies. The proposal is to set the workday to start at 8:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM.

However, the overall length of the workday will remain the same: employees will begin and end work one hour earlier. The city administration explained that many social institutions, businesses, and government organizations already begin their work at 8:00 AM, and by this time, residents of the capital are already actively accessing various services. Synchronizing these schedules will ensure that services are ready to serve citizens from early morning and allow for more efficient coordination between agencies.

Furthermore, traffic flow analysis and modeling conducted by the Traffic Management Center demonstrate that moving the start time of the workday will help reduce congestion on the road network during morning rush hours. If the new schedule is adopted, lunch break times will also be adjusted, which will allow for a more even distribution of both traffic flows and the load on food service establishments. Before making a final decision, city authorities plan to gather feedback from residents.
