Tashkent authorities clarify why registering young men for military service does not mean conscription

Registering young men for initial military registration in Tashkent does not mean their immediate enlistment into the army. This was reported by the press service of the capital's hokimiyat, commenting on the decision dated October 5, 2026, on organizing registration at conscription centers.

According to Article 18 of the Law "On Universal Military Duty and Military Service," registration is necessary to place citizens on the military register. As part of this procedure, the number of young men is determined, their fitness for service is assessed, and their level of education and physical training is reviewed.

Registration is conducted in October and November of the final year of study in general education schools, specialized secondary, and initial vocational education institutions.

District defense affairs departments, educational institutions, medical organizations, and citizens' self-government bodies are involved in organizing the events. They coordinate the work and ensure the implementation of the procedures provided for by law.

The hokimiyat emphasized that all events must take place in accordance with legislation and with respect for citizens' rights. The city hokim's decision concerns the organization of registration and does not introduce a new procedure for conscription into military service.
