Switzerland has appointed a new ambassador to Uzbekistan.
The new Swiss Ambassador, Simone Giger, presented copies of her credentials to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov.

As reported by the head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received copies of the credentials from Simone Giger, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for the further development of bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to intensifying political dialogue, expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, developing industrial cooperation, and promoting new joint projects.
Saidov wished Simone Giger success in her diplomatic mission and assured her of his full support for her efforts to further develop Uzbek-Swiss relations.
Simone Giger replaces Konstantin Obolensky.
