Oxford University students visit Uzbekistan

A summer school initiative in Uzbekistan for students studying in the Uzbek language program at Oxford University began today, August 31. The program was opened in 2025 with the participation of Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan.

For a month, Oxford students will have the opportunity to study the Uzbek language and culture in Uzbekistan, as well as get to know the rich history of the country. The summer school program includes trips to Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, cultural events and Uzbek language classes.

It should be noted that participants in the Uzbek language program at Oxford will be taught not only the modern Uzbek language, but also the ancient Uzbek language - Chigatai. This makes Oxford the first and only university to include Uzbek and Chigatai languages in its curriculum.
