The creators of South Park, the animated TV series, have said its new season will be called South America, in what appears to be a nod to US President Donald Trump's efforts to rename a lake and a gulf.
"Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA," creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker said in a statement.
Trump signed an executive order in August to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America, and last year said the Gulf of Mexico should be called the Gulf of America.
The South Park announcement, with the show now in its 29th season, came after it won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program on Sunday.
The official name change, posted on the show's official social media account, included an image of the South Park sign with the word 'Park' replaced by 'America'.
"We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount - a Skydance Capitulation," its creators said in the post.
Paramount Skydance is the show's parent company. This year, the Trump administration approved a $111bn (£82.8bn) merger with Warner Bros Discovery - among the largest media deals in history.
However, the merger has since been put on hold until June 2027, after 12 US states filed lawsuits against the deal over concerns it could reduce competition and push up prices for consumers.
A day before the show's announcement, Trump posted an AI-generated video of himself putting the word 'America' over 'Mexico' on a "Welcome to New Mexico" sign.
In August, as trade tensions grew between the US and Canada, Trump ordered a similar change for Lake Ontario, renaming it Lake America.
Apple and Google later changed the name in their Maps apps for users based in the US.
And last year, Trump ordered the Gulf of Mexico to be renamed the Gulf of America. Mexico has refused to accept the change, saying one country cannot rename a shared body of international water.
South Park, which has aired since 1997, has frequently mocked the US president during his two terms in office.
Stone and Parker have both repeatedly faced criticism from Trump, the White House and MAGA supporters over their attacks on the president.
During its 27th season, the White House called South Park a "fourth-rate" show that was "hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention", after an episode showed Trump naked in bed with Satan.
After winning the award for Outstanding Animated Program on Sunday, South Park also posted an image showing a fictionalised Donald Trump with the words: "You finally got your Emmy."
The new season of South Park is set to premiere on 16 September.
