Shots fired at US consulate in Toronto for a second time this year
Police said they engaged in a high-speed car chase but failed to arrest the suspect, who remains at large. Three people were arrested in June after a similar attack.
For the second time this year, shots have been fired at the US consulate in Toronto. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which led police to cordon off the street on Monday.
Toronto police are probing the shooting, which occurred early Monday morning. An officer stationed outside the consulate building reported hearing a single gunshot and observed a white vehicle, lacking a licence plate, fleeing the scene. Police briefly pursued the car at high speed but terminated the chase due to safety concerns. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and the number of individuals involved in the attack remains unclear.
This latest shooting follows a similar event in March, for which Toronto police arrested three individuals. Investigators have linked that earlier incident to a broader gun-for-hire network.
