Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with Vladimir Putin in Bishkek

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting as part of a working visit to Bishkek. The presidential press service reported this on August 31.

During the conversation, issues of further development of strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries were discussed.

The report notes that the rapid development of trade and economic cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Since the beginning of this year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 12 percent. The implementation of large-scale joint projects in industry, energy, metallurgy, transport and other priority sectors of the economy continues.

The meeting emphasized the importance of maintaining the positive dynamics of mutual trade, accelerating industrial cooperation projects, as well as actively continuing interregional ties.

Particular attention was paid to further expanding active cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries.

The presidents also discussed the plan for future events in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Kyrgyzstan is currently hosting the next summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. As part of the events, the President of Uzbekistan met with the leaders of China and Pakistan, the US President's Special Representative, and the UN Secretary-General. The summit talks are scheduled to continue on September 1.
