Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the preparation for major international events in Bukhara
Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting regarding the state of preparation for major international events planned to be held in the city of Bukhara.
The head of state emphasized that the upcoming events should not only showcase the rich historical heritage and current potential of Bukhara, but also serve the development of the region. To this end, it was noted that preparations should not be limited to the event venues alone, but require the comprehensive development of transport, services, security, and urban infrastructure.
The meeting reviewed issues regarding the high-level organization of top-level meetings and major international events. Each ministry and agency was tasked with carefully preparing for substantive dialogue with foreign partners in their respective fields, demonstrating the practical results of the reforms in our country, and developing new joint initiatives.
Special attention was paid to the issue of ensuring public safety. Plans to launch modern situation centers in Bukhara, monitor the situation in public places and tourist facilities using digital technologies, manage road traffic, and combat cybercrime were discussed. The need to strengthen cooperation between crime prevention inspectors and the "mahalla seven" in preventing offenses in local neighborhoods was highlighted.
At the same time, the construction of a new international airport worth $300 million, the building of a 23.5-kilometer road connecting it to the city, and roadside landscaping work were reviewed. Instructions were given on the beautification of the areas surrounding railway stations, as well as improving parking facilities, lighting, services, and public transport operations. It was decided to deploy an additional 120 buses to connect cities and districts with the stations.
Taking into account Bukhara's climatic conditions, attention was also paid to expanding green spaces, planting trees and shrubs, and establishing irrigation and drainage systems for their maintenance.
The necessity of leveraging international events to expand investment and economic cooperation was emphasized. Proposals to reach practical agreements with foreign partners in industrial cooperation, production of high-value-added products, transport and logistics, and export sectors were reviewed. Additionally, renewable energy projects and the development of power transmission and storage infrastructure in the region were discussed.
It was noted that along with a broader showcase of Bukhara's historical and cultural heritage and tourism opportunities, it is important to directly introduce guests to the work in the region's modern enterprises, agriculture, handicrafts, and service sectors. Tasks were also set to practically demonstrate changes in ensuring population employment, increasing incomes, as well as in the fields of healthcare and culture.
Officials were instructed to visit the regions personally to inspect the progress of the work, solve problems on the spot, and strictly coordinate the execution of all tasks.
