"Shavkat Mirziyoyev has completely changed Uzbekistan" - Ilham Aliyev
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated the development of Uzbekistan in recent years and the changes implemented in the country under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Ilham Aliyev noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev has fundamentally changed Uzbekistan. He noted that there is a significant difference between the situation when Mirziyoyev came to power and the current one.
“When Shavkat Miromonovich began to lead Uzbekistan, the situation was completely different. Both the citizens of Uzbekistan and we know this very well. Therefore, he had to work hard to put the country on the path of development and form the economic aspects of the state from scratch,” said Ilham Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani leader also touched upon the work on the development of industry and agriculture, as well as attracting foreign investment.
“Today we see a completely different Uzbekistan - Uzbekistan, which has become a very respected member of the world community. Issues related to the development of industry, agriculture, energy, transport infrastructure are being resolved very quickly and effectively,” he said.
According to Ilham Aliyev, the work and reforms carried out in Uzbekistan have also created an important basis for cooperation projects between the two countries.
“Without the work and reforms carried out by Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his team for Uzbekistan, it would not have been possible to implement a single cooperation project,” the Azerbaijani President said.
He also noted that before Shavkat Mirziyoyev took office as the head of Uzbekistan, there was not a single joint project between the two countries.
Currently, the parties aim to increase bilateral trade turnover to $1 billion. Ilham Aliyev assessed this indicator not as a long-term dream, but as a result that will be achieved in the next two years.
“Today we are talking about a trade turnover of $1 billion. This is not some long-term dream, but as something that will be achieved in the next two years,” he said.
The Azerbaijani leader noted that investment projects and mutual investments in areas where the economies of both sides are in need were also discussed, noting that such cooperation has emerged as a result of the parallel development of the two countries.
