President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with deep satisfaction that the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan is of historical significance.
The President noted that the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship was the most important result of the summit. According to the leader of Uzbekistan, this document is an expression of the joint aspiration to deepen cooperation, expand existing opportunities and build a common future.
The third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council was also held within the framework of the visit, which has become an effective mechanism for developing and implementing new initiatives to deepen allied relations.
The head of Uzbekistan noted that the Azerbaijani economy is developing steadily and its influence in the international arena is growing. Ilham Aliyev once again congratulated Azerbaijan on the restoration of its territorial integrity and the return of its ancestral lands.
Special attention was paid to the issue of the restoration of Karabakh, whose social infrastructure is being rapidly built and new jobs are being created on its territory.
"Azerbaijan is our reliable ally, strategic partner and fraternal state. At the heart of our relations is a single civilizational code - common historical roots, centuries-old friendship, similar culture and traditions," said the Uzbek leader.
It was noted that serious preparatory work had been carried out for the summit. Meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, as well as the Forum of Regions, were held effectively.
During the talks, the presidents discussed in detail all aspects of multifaceted relations and listened to the information of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on the main areas.
These are, first of all, trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, culture and other areas.
The parties agreed to further strengthen political dialogue, support active contacts between parliaments and governments, sectoral agencies and regions.
The main attention was paid to economic issues. The possibilities of increasing the volume of trade turnover to $ 1 billion were considered. Today, an appropriate program was adopted, which includes specific measures to achieve this important milestone.
New growth points were identified in industrial cooperation.
As part of the preparation for this visit, a significant package of cooperation projects in energy, geology, chemistry, construction, finance, agriculture and other sectors was formed.
The Investment Fund, established several years ago, plays an important role in promoting these projects.
An agreement was reached on the full mobilization of the potential of the regions. For this purpose, this month, the governors of Tashkent, Bukhara and Namangan regions visited Azerbaijan.
Another important area of cooperation is the transport and transit sector, in particular, the joint development of the Trans-Caspian corridor, increasing the efficiency of logistics infrastructure and stimulating freight traffic.
Close cultural and humanitarian ties between the two peoples serve as a reliable bridge of friendship.
Today, a new building of the Nizami Ganjavi Pedagogical University will be opened, and work will begin on the construction of the "Azerbaijan" park in New Tashkent.
Before the end of the year, Uzbekistan will host the Days of Azerbaijani Culture and the second forum of rectors of higher educational institutions in Azerbaijan.
The shooting of a joint feature film dedicated to the literary heritage of Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi will be an important event in the cultural life of our countries.
It was noted that, according to the FIFA decision, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will jointly host the FIFA World Youth Championship next year.
It was agreed to implement a large-scale program “Two Countries - One Championship” within the framework of this major sporting event.
In conclusion, the head of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to his Azerbaijani counterpart for supporting the proposals and initiatives. He expressed confidence that the results of this historic visit will enrich cooperation with concrete practical content, open up new horizons for joint projects and sustainable development of the two brotherly countries.
