Shavkat Mirziyoyev urged the use of AI to protect human rights
The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has called for the use of artificial intelligence and modern technologies to protect human rights and freedoms, as well as to ensure the rule of law. This was stated in the address of the head of state to the participants of the VII Congress of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions, which is taking place in Samarkand.
The head of state emphasized that in the context of digital transformation, the independence of judges, the protection of human rights, and compliance with constitutional principles acquire special significance. According to him, constitutional control bodies must ensure that laws comply with the Constitution and facilitate the functioning of state power within its established framework.
Mirziyoyev also stated that during Uzbekistan's presidency of the Association, the republic intends to expand legal dialogue in Asia and practical cooperation between countries. Following the congress, it is planned to adopt the Samarkand Declaration, dedicated to the development of constitutional justice in the digital era.
Earlier, the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan ruled that a norm allowing the administrative detention of a person for more than 48 hours without a court decision was contrary to the Constitution. The decision was made following an appeal by the Ombudsman.
