Severe flooding in Istanbul: Uzbek Consulate issues a warning

Uzbek citizens living and temporarily residing in the provinces of Istanbul, Yalova, and Kocaeli have been urged to remain vigilant due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. This was reported by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.

Heavy rain, wind, and adverse weather conditions could pose risks of flooding, traffic disruptions, and other emergency situations.

Therefore, our compatriots are requested to observe the following precautions:

- Avoid long-distance travel unless necessary;

- Stay away from low-lying areas, underpasses, and tunnels where water may accumulate during heavy rainfall;

- Exercise heightened caution near sea coasts, trees, power lines, and unstable structures;

- Reduce speed and maintain a safe distance while driving;

- Strictly follow official warnings and recommendations issued by the authorized bodies of Turkey.

Overnight into October 15, heavy rainfall in Istanbul caused flooding in underpasses and residential buildings. Due to the dangerous situation, classes were canceled in all educational institutions in Istanbul.
