Yesterday, September 23, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Uzbekistan organized a reception on the occasion of the country's National Day. The event was attended by state and public figures, media representatives, including the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva.
First, the national anthems of the two countries were played. At the ceremony, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to our republic, Saad bin Nasir bin Abdullah Abu Haimed, spoke about the work carried out in the country in recent years and future plans. He also touched upon the cooperative relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that this cooperation is developing year by year.
Indeed, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years and covers many strategic sectors of the economy. The volume of investments directed by Saudi Arabia into the economy of Uzbekistan has exceeded 2.8 billion dollars. Today, 433 enterprises with the participation of Saudi capital are successfully operating in Uzbekistan. The volume of mutual trade between the two countries is growing at a rapid pace, amounting to 178 million dollars annually.
The largest and most strategic area of cooperation is energy. Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power is implementing projects worth billions of dollars to build wind and solar power plants in various regions of Uzbekistan, as well as to produce "green" hydrogen.
The two countries are actively working on improving the healthcare system based on digital technologies, introducing innovative solutions into medicine, and effectively using public-private partnership mechanisms. There are also joint programs for advanced training of doctors. Cooperation in education and scientific research has been established between the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and King Saud University of Saudi Arabia.
