Samarkand Delegation Studies US Healthcare System

A delegation from Samarkand is currently in the United States on a working visit, aiming to learn about advanced healthcare management techniques and identify new collaborative ventures with American entities, UzDaily.uz reports.

The group comprises officials from the regional governor's office, the public healthcare system, and the private medical sector, including representatives from Meros International Hospital.

A primary goal of this trip is to strengthen ties with Project C.U.R.E., a US-based non-governmental organization, while simultaneously investigating contemporary methods in managing medical facilities, delivering healthcare services, and integrating technology.

This visit follows groundwork laid earlier this year when Samarkand regional governor Adiz Boboev traveled to the US. After initial discussions with Project C.U.R.E. leadership, the organization's specialists conducted on-site evaluations at 10 medical facilities in the Samarkand region to assess their equipment and inventory requirements. These assessments led to an agreement for Project C.U.R.E. to donate medical equipment and supplies valued at US$10 million to the region's institutions. These prepared supplies are presently stored in Project C.U.R.E. warehouses and are slated for container shipment to Samarkand.

During their current visit, the delegation is engaging in discussions with executives and experts from Project C.U.R.E. and prominent US healthcare institutions. These conversations are centered on modern management frameworks, clinical methodologies, medical logistics, facility upgrades, and the adoption of new technologies.

The delegation is also focused on fostering the growth of Samarkand's private medical sector. Delegates are meeting with American counterparts to discuss management strategies, medical technologies utilized in private clinics, prospects for international partnerships, and joint investment projects.

As part of their schedule, the delegation met with Furkat Sidikov, Uzbekistan's Ambassador to the United States, at the Uzbek Embassy in Washington. Their discussions covered expanding interregional healthcare collaboration, leveraging the expertise of Uzbek professionals residing abroad, and initiating new projects. Additional meetings were held with representatives from Islamic Relief USA and Project C.U.R.E. to address the provision of modern equipment and essential medical supplies, the expansion of humanitarian medical aid, and the development of long-term partnerships.

This visit is anticipated to result in enhanced cooperation with Project C.U.R.E., improvements to the material and technical infrastructure of regional medical facilities, and the implementation of modern healthcare practices across both the public and private sectors in Samarkand.
