Ronaldo was fined 255 euros for acting arbitrarily

The disciplinary committee of the Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) has penalized Cristiano Ronaldo for leaving the national team headquarters without authorization. The forward was found guilty of committing a single intentional disciplinary offense under Article 160, Paragraph 1 of the regulations. He was suspended for 30 days and fined 255 euros.

Ronaldo fined 255 euros for arbitrary behavior

Ronaldo left the national team on September 30 ahead of the match against Denmark in Copenhagen. This was caused by the new head coach Jorge Jesus's public statement that he could not guarantee the 41-year-old forward a place in the starting lineup. On October 6, the footballer made a statement explaining his decision and accused the coach of breaking his promises.

On October 9, disciplinary proceedings were initiated, after which the council decided to disqualify the player. The case received urgent status. The following day, the documents were submitted to the disciplinary investigation commission.

Article 160 provides for a disqualification of one to six months for leaving training camps without good reason. A fine ranging from approximately 500 to 1,000 euros is also set for a professional footballer. The actual punishment turned out to be the lightest option, and the fine was even lower than the specified amount.

The disqualification will not prevent Ronaldo from playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. Earlier, Jesus did not rule out the forward's return to the national team. It is reported that Ronaldo will not miss any national team matches due to the 30-day period. His disqualification is calculated starting from September 30.

The Portugal national team is scheduled to play at home against Denmark on November 14 and away against Wales on November 17 in the Nations League.
